That's really cool! The question now is how do we do this? Do all we need to do is insert a URL address in the body of a forum post? Would any URL address work (not just YouTube) if the URL points to the right type of video file?

You will also need to tell us what would be acceptable and unacceptable to post.

Great work! Its a wonderful enhancement to the site.

Ok, there is a new button YOUTUBE, just click it and enter the video URL in the popup that will appear. Works with youtube.com only.
Anything from youtube is acceptable ;)

When you click the YOUTUBE button, a dialog box is presented with the YOUTUBE URL address already partially filled in so:

http://www.youtube.com/v/

If you copy a YOUTUBE URL, it usually looks like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Rp4hV4QUC4

Just copy the unique code that appears after the "v=", in this case ... 2Rp4hV4QUC4 ... and append it to the partial YOUTUBE URL in the dialog box like so:

http://www.youtube.com/v/2Rp4hV4QUC4

Then Press OK. That should do it.

I am one who likes to type stuff in herself. :p Plus I did use the dialogue box as well and if I press the reply with quote the codes all appear correct to me. So, it still baffles me I will try the way you said later with just the end code and see what happens. hmmmmm

Admin if you could if there is a prob with typing in codes yourself for old school type girls like me make it so I can just type in [ Youtube ] la la [ /Youtube ]

Thanks

ok I see the diff now. On you tube it would include the watch?v etc.. in it and this way shortens the URL and amazingly it still works. okies

I can do this now but still prefer putting stuff directly using [ / ] whatever. lol

We made it a little bit more fail-proof, it must automatically replace wrong "watch?"code with the right "/v/". So even if you just cut-n-paste the URL from Youtube, it must work now.
