In my travels to Poland and Eastern Europe I have found that most hotels have their own bar ladies that they would rather you choose. Some of these ladies are quite pretty and very talanted. And most of them don't even ask the time. These hotels make it hard to bring in an outside lady but, do allow it if you pay a fee. Usually $50 USD.
The way I get around this and for my comfort ( a lot of european countries still have single beds) I book a room with a queen or larger bed and make sure the reservation is for 2 people in the room.
If you travel from North America and use a travel agency most rooms are automaticaly booked for 2 people. When you check into your hotel make sure you have your confirmation letter and it will state "Double occupancy", they can't say shit. You paid for a room for 2 people at a reduced rate. If they don't honor it 2 things can happen.
The travel agency will drop them and then the agency will pay you back the money for a single room when you booked a double.
It's a pain in the butt but I got a refund from one travel company and a refund on my phone call from Eastern Europe because their 800 # wasn't free.
If you are going to travel to some country or state it's easiest to double book than to go through the hassels. I've checked in alone and informed the desk that my companion would be arriving later. No Problems.
