A Poem That Touches My Heart Deeply About A True Love.
I was reading a book and I came across this poem that touched my heart deeply. This poem is not meant to put my love down in any way; it's merely an expression of how it feels without my love. It also conveys how I also long for my true love to encapture me in love and passion.
"You Say You Love Me" By: John Keats
I.
You say you love me; but with a voice
Chaster than a nun's, who singeth
The soft vespers to herself
While the chime-bell ringeth-
O Love Me Truly!
II.
You say you love me; but with a smile
Cold as sunrise in September,
As you were Saint Cupid's nun,
And kept his weeks of Ember.
O Love Me Truly!
III.
You say you love- but then your lips
Coral tinted teach no blisses.
More than coral in the sea-
They never pout for kisses-
O Love Me Truly!
IV.
You say you love; but then your hand
No soft squeeze for squeeze returneth,
While mine to passion burneth-
O Love Me Truly!
V.
O breathe a word or two of fire!
Smile, as if those words should burn be,
Squeeze as lovers should- O Kiss
And in thy heart inurn me!
O Love Me Truly!
Yes, you're right SexyTwo;John Keats lived a long time ago and that was the way he wrote. A lot of the poets long ago; had their unique style of writing. I know what you mean about some of the words. I had to go into the dictionary to look up a few words to understand what they meant as well. It's ok though; it's all good.
Oh the poem is wonderful but some words of old style and part of the words make it harder to read and understand. He had to live very long ago had he..
