Ive had the squirt straight from the udder too. My parents used to have a cow Mum milked daily and I later had a goat I milked everyday when I was 10 or so. Ive also done my share of Dairy farming as an adult. Fantastic to have land :) Posted on: 11/06/07 20:18

I know what you mean. I'm happiest wearing jeans and a cotton shirt with work shoes. The earliest memory I have is of my Grandfather walking and carrying me down to the pasture to milk the cows. He laid me on the ground, under a cow, and milked the milk right into my mouth. I'll never forget it. He called me "Cotton" and named a bull "Baldy" after me. Having over 900 acers I had my own private world to explore. Those days are gone but Never forgotten. I own the orgional home site, about 2 acres, and 1 from my Grandmother's land. It's undeveloped timber land,now, and I have told people it will never be sold. If I never have decendents, I am going to leave it to the Hertiage Museum, in Woodville, Texas, named after his family. :) Im ultimately happiest in my gumboots! My Fathers property is 10 acres, my haven, has always been. Ive done everything from Dairy farming to tree planting over the years so enjoyed more than my share of 'rural'. I need it. Posted on: 11/04/07 20:50

Sally, You and I are both very fortunate to have spent some of our childhood on a farm. I spent every summer on my Grandfather's farm and it was the most wonderful time of my life. We didn't have much but, then we didn't need much. I really enjoyed living on a farm that only had electricty as a modern convience. Taught me what is really important in life: Family.
